From 6th April the scope of s106 contributions has been limited to affordable housing and site specific infrastructure. Local authorities are therefore seeking to adopt CIL Charging Schedules to recoup the cost of planned infrastructure across their area. Once adopted a Charging Schedule will allow levies to be applied to development, based on the amount of floorspace and use, unrelated to the impact of a particular development. We are experienced in assessing the transparency and viability of draft Charging Schedules, securing revisions and undertaking further evidence based work to ensure both a sound approach to local CIL schemes and that they are commercially viable for landowners and developers.
